The Cities perspective

Integration of Airport City structures in the regional development

Successful airport cities do not compete with the regional structure, but find their identity by connecting the airport, the metropolis, the region and the municipalities in an integrative way.

Regional collaboration on airport city developments is important for creating a win-win situation in the vicinity of airports. This task can be led by the airport city development organisation, whether that is the airport itself or a private developer. However, if there is no such organisation or the necessary structures are not yet in place, surrounding municipalities or the closest city can demonstrate positive and constructive leadership by structuring stakeholder management and the associated topics.

Many regional initiatives have tried the 'us versus them' approach. Airports have made the same mistake.

Let us find ways to work together to create liveable, attractive airport regions.
