The Investors perspective

Investors remain hesitant about airport city developments.

Some people in the real estate industry already claim that airport cities are the next asset class waiting to be discovered. Even though an Airport City is obviously an agglomeration of various functions, such as logistics, offices, hotels, conferencing and meetings, plus important urban services, we recognise that the complexity of an Airport City needs to be viewed within a holistic framework.

This means that collaboration and long-term engagement are key factors. The real estate world has not necessarily proven itself to be the best in this respect in the past. Those who develop collaboration strategies will have the best chance in terms of airport city developments in the future.

Another reason for hesitation is that the airport core mindset is incompatible with the open market mindset. There are only a few people who can bridge the gap between these two worlds.
